Welcome and project history

7:40 – 8:10 PowerPoint presentation of Town Center Research and Analysis and the results of the public workshops.

1. History of Groton Center
2. What characteristics define Groton Center today?
a. Streetscape elements: sidewalks, parking, curbs, crosswalks, tree plantings, fences and hedges, etc.
b. Walkability Update
c. Architecture: building styles, massing, location, detailing, materials, etc.
d. Signage
e. Lighting
f. Views and visual character
g. Existing dimensions, setbacks, pavement widths, etc.
h. Parking and driveway access.
3. Development Suitability: ownership, easements, soils, slopes, wetlands, etc.
4. Zoning and likely future buildout.
5. Issues and concerns identified at the workshops.
6. Opportunities identified at the workshop.
7. Introduction to Visual Preference Survey

8:10 – 8:30 Presentation of town center concept plan: elements to be preserved, opportunities for redevelopment of infill, and proposed streetscape improvements. Presentation of basic dimensional and design standards.

8:30 – 9:00 Group discussion.

9:00 Visual Preference Survey (As participants depart, they place dots on photographs indicating examples of buildings and streetscape treatments they think are a good fit for the Town Center.
