                      Emerald Ash Borer Explained

Wed 11 April 2018, Legion Hall, 75 Hollis St, Groton MA, 01450

Refreshments and networking at 6:00pm, presentation at 7:00pm

Presented by the Mass Department of Agricultural Resources and the

Town of Groton Invasive Species Committee.

Javier Marin of the MA Dept. of Agricultural Resources will introduce

and explain the emerald ash borer (EAB).  The EAB is one of the

fastest spreading and most destructive pests in the United States.

Javier will show how to identify this pest, its telltale signs, and

how to report it.  You will learn about the history and ecology of the

EAB, as well what steps you and your community can take to help

safeguard your trees and manage potential impacts.

Javier Marin is a graduate of Suffolk University with a B.A. in

Environmental Science and a passion for all things six-legged.  As

Forest Pest Outreach Coordinator, he helps ensure MA communities are

kept up-to-date with the latest information on invasive species.  He

also coordinates the Wasp Watcher program, which helps monitor for EAB

throughout the state.  When he's not spreading the word on invasives,

he can be found photographing as many insects as possible.

The listing of topics that the Chair reasonably anticipates will be discussed at the meeting is not intended as a guarantee of the topics that will have been discussed. Not all topics listed may in fact be discussed, and other topics not listed may also be brought up for discussion to the extent permitted by law.
